September School Holidays 5 Day Intensive Classes

$680.00

Date & Time: Monday 29th September to Friday 3rd October, 10am-1pm

Parents — Teach your kids to cook you dinner (and feed themselves forever).

Our Mission

Each weekly class will focus on a short nutrition education topic and will be followed by hands-on cooking of a main and/or a dessert recipe (depending on time). The idea is to build skills and knowledge over the term or over the week in the holiday program to develop food independence.

Program Introduction

This program is designed for teenagers who are complete beginners in the kitchen, including those who don’t know how to boil an egg. Our aim is to build confidence and independence through hands-on cooking lessons that focus on practical life skills and healthy eating habits.

Program Overview

Open to students in Year 7–12 (ages 12–19), this course provides a supportive, inclusive environment where all skill levels are welcome. The curriculum can be adapted for students with more advanced skills, and beginners will receive plenty of guidance.

What Students Will Learn

Each week focuses on a specific area of kitchen education and basic cooking. Students will:

·       Gain confidence using ovens, stoves, microwaves, air fryers, and blenders.

·       Learn safe knife and food handling techniques.

·       Cook simple, nutritious meals like stir fries, frittatas, pasta bolognese, grilled sandwiches, and more.

·       Prepare healthy snacks and quick desserts using wholefoods.

·       Understand food groups, macronutrients, and how to build balanced meals.

·       Plan basic daily and weekly menus, and write shopping lists.

Eligibility and Safety

The program is open to any student aged 12–19. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns and kitchen limitations, we are unable to accommodate students who:

·       Follow a vegan diet

·       Have diagnosed coeliac disease

·       Have anaphylaxis-level allergies to nuts or seeds
